Selecting things and dragging them into folders

To select several photos or folders, switch to Select mode (the ✓ icon in Edit mode) and tap the ones you want — each tap toggles a checkbox. Once at least one item is checked, action icons appear in the header (Export, Copy, Cut, Delete, and so on, depending on the repository — see the following sections).

To move something into a different folder, stay in Edit mode (not Select) and press and hold a folder or photo for about a third of a second — it starts blinking, meaning it's picked up. Keep your finger down, drag it over the destination folder, and lift your finger. If you were hovering over a real folder when you lifted, the item moves there; otherwise it snaps back to where it was. You can drag both folders and files this way, in any view — List, Grid, Document, or the tree — even dragging a photo from a regular list onto a folder shown in the tree.

One special case worth knowing: dragging a photo out of Local's Gallery (the flat "everything" list) onto a folder adds it there without removing it from Gallery, since Gallery isn't really a "place" a photo can be moved out of — every photo always stays in it.
