Runs anywhere Node.js does
Plain Node.js with no native modules — the same server runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux with a single install, and finds itself on your local network automatically (mDNS/Bonjour), so the AIPPics app can connect without typing an address.
A browser gallery with no app to install
AIPPicsWEB is a full photo gallery served by the server itself: open its address from any browser on your network to browse albums, view photos and videos, and manage your library — list, grid, document, and tree views included.
View, select, move, crop
Drag a rectangle to select many photos at once, drag and drop or copy/cut/paste them between albums, zoom and pan in the viewer, and crop a photo right in the browser — EXIF data is kept on the cropped copy.
HEIC photos just work
iPhone HEIC/HEIF photos are converted to JPEG on the server for display, so they show up as real previews in the browser gallery — while the original files stay untouched for downloads and exports.
Albums that can live in more than one place
The same album or photo can sit under several parent folders at once, with no duplicated files — and real folders already on your disk can be browsed alongside your albums.
Export whole folders to disk
Copy or symlink an entire album tree into a real folder on the computer, choosing the destination from a folder tree limited to the locations you allowed — with a default you set once and can override per device.
Your look, your device
Light, Dark, or follow the system; separate size sliders for tree, grid, list, and document views; adjustable control-icon size and document-panel transparency — saved per browser, so every device keeps its own preferences.
A web admin page and safe password recovery
Configure the photo folder, network, and which directories may be browsed or written to from one admin page. One shared password protects everything, and a forgotten password can be recovered with a PIN sent to your recovery e-mail.
Made for your own network
The server is designed for a trusted home or office network: it speaks plain HTTP on your LAN and is protected by one shared password. It works together with AIPPics on iPhone — as its “Desktop” repository — and with the AIPPics Desktop app.
Download for Linux
Version 0.1.16. Both packages are minified and obfuscated (a deterrent against casual copying — see Terms of Use for the actual license). Verify the sha256 checksum after downloading if you'd like to confirm the file wasn't corrupted or tampered with in transit.
.deb (Debian / Ubuntu)
Installs Node.js itself via apt — smallest download (2.4 MB).
sha256: 9aefaf2b73ab43add38dfe731fcb40f39bbb07bb764274ef616ebbb9a1311c5d
.tar.xz (any Linux, x86_64)
Bundles its own Node.js runtime — nothing needs to be preinstalled, at the cost of a bigger download (29 MB).
