AIPPics Desktop Server Terms of Use
Effective date: October 2, 2026
These terms apply to your use of AIPPics Desktop Server ("aiudtfs", "the server"), software made by AISKSoft ("we") that you download and run on a computer you own or control. By downloading, installing, or running the server you agree to them.
AIPPics Demo, Free and Plus
The server can be used for free with certain limits (for example, on the number of photos and albums it holds, and on how many devices can connect to it at once) — see Pricing for the exact numbers. AIPPics Plus removes those limits, and there are two ways to get it:
- Buy it once in the AIPPics app on iPhone. One purchase unlocks Plus on both AIPPics and the server — nothing separate to buy here. Made through your Apple ID and processed by Apple; see AIPPics Terms of Use for how that purchase works and Apple's payment/refund policies.
- Buy it directly for the server, if you don't have (or don't want to use) the iPhone app — Buy AIPPics Plus, paid through PayPal, as either a one-time Lifetime purchase or a Monthly subscription. The Monthly subscription renews automatically at the price shown on that page until you cancel it — you can cancel any time from your own PayPal account (Settings → Payments → Manage automatic payments), and it stays active through the end of the period you already paid for. Either option requires an AISKSoft account (created on that page) and PayPal to process the payment; we don't see or store your card or bank details ourselves.
Refunds. Purchases made directly for the server (through PayPal) are final and non-refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable law. You can try the server for free before buying — the free version is the same software with the limits described above. If a payment is refunded or reversed (including through a PayPal dispute or a chargeback), Plus is removed from your account. Purchases made in the iPhone app follow Apple's refund policies instead (reportaproblem.apple.com).
Either way, Plus is tied to your AISKSoft account, not to one purchase method or one device — link your server to that account (its web admin page → "Account & Plus") and it recognizes the same entitlement, however you bought it.
What the server does
The server runs on a computer you control, on your own local network. It stores photos and videos in a folder you choose, and lets the AIPPics app and AIPPics Desktop connect to it over that network — plus its own built-in web gallery, reachable from any browser on the network. This is self-hosted software: your photos, videos, and albums stay on your own computer. We do not receive your content and have no access to it.
Your responsibility as the operator
Installing the server typically needs administrator/root privileges on the target computer (the Linux installer, for example, sets it up as a systemd service). Because it runs under your control, you are responsible for:
- keeping the computer it runs on secure and up to date;
- your own backups — deleting a photo or album, from the server itself or from a connected app, cannot be undone by us;
- your network exposure — the server currently speaks plain HTTP, protected by one shared password, with no built-in TLS (see the security notes in its documentation); treat it like any other device on your network, and don't expose it directly to the internet without your own additional protection (for example, a VPN).
License to use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and run the server for your own use, on computers you own or control, together with the AIPPics app or AIPPics Desktop. You may not redistribute, sell, sublicense, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the server, except to the extent applicable law gives you that right despite this restriction.
AISKSoft account (optional, unless you bought Plus directly)
Linking a server installation to an AISKSoft account is optional if you're on the free tier or bought Plus through the iPhone app — it helps recover a forgotten server password by e-mail, see the Privacy Policy for what that involves. If you bought Plus directly for the server (see above), the link is also how the server checks that your account is still entitled to Plus.
Acceptable use
Don't use the server to break the law, to access devices or networks you're not authorized to access, or to interfere with our servers (including the account-recovery service it may talk to).
No warranty; limitation of liability
The server is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, AISKSoft is not liable for any damages of any kind — direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential — arising from downloading, installing, configuring, or running the server, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, damage to the computer or network it runs on, or loss arising from unauthorized access to either.
If, despite the above, AISKSoft is found liable for anything, its total liability to you for all claims together is limited to the amount you actually paid AISKSoft for AIPPics Plus in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim (or US$0 if you used only the free version), to the extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
Changes
We may update these terms; the current version is always on this page, with its effective date above.
